I was born and raised in Kent where I still live and work. During my (mainly) misspent youth I did manage to study Wildlife Illustration a bit in Carmarthen, Wales.
I now live with too many animals and far too much wildlife (inside as well as out) in my old family cottage which, when it’s not trying to fall down round my ears, is situated on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Hollingbourne and within walking distance of Leeds Castle. I love it.
I have always drawn and painted since I could hold a brush in my grubby little fist, indeed before I could write, and I started painting in oils when I was about ten years old. My subject matter has naturally always been drawn from what interests me most so my love of all creatures great and small has been a big influence. People fascinate me too.
I derive a great deal of satisfaction from painting my subjects, be they animal or human, in a way that captures the essence of that individual. I want to feel I know and understand them and that I have created a true representation of their personality. I think it is important to love what you do, because I believe it shows through in your work.
It’s great meeting people and pets alike, so if you want to have a chat about artwork or lessons etc. please don’t be shy and contact me. I would love to hear from you and if I can be of any help I will be happy to talk to you.
